ASSET CATEGORY
1.1 Add Asset Category
Add an Asset Category - Step-by-Step
Step 1: Reach the Asset Category
- From the main side menu, click on "Maintenance", then go to "Masters", and finally choose "Asset Category". This will open the Asset Category page.
Step 2: Adding an Asset Category
- At the top-right, click on the “Create Asset Category” button to add a new category.
Step 3: Fill in Details
The Create Asset Category page will open. Complete the following fields:
- Category
[Mandatory][Text Field]– Enter the name of the asset category (e.g., Furniture, Machinery). - Description
[Mandatory][Text Field]– Provide a description for the category (e.g., Wood Related Product, Electrical Equipment). - Select Status
[Mandatory][Dropdown]– Choose whether the category should be set as Active or Inactive.
Step 4: Save the Category
- Click Submit to save the new Asset Category.
- Click Clear to reset all entered details.
- Click Cancel if you don’t want to proceed.
1.2 Search Asset Category
Search an Asset Category - Step-by-Step
Step 1: Start Searching
On the Asset Category page, you can search using:
- Category – Enter the category name.
- Description – Enter keywords related to the description.
- Status – Select Active/Inactive.
Step 2: See the Results
- Click Search to see the list of Asset Categories that match your criteria.
1.3 Edit Asset Category
Edit an Asset Category - Step-by-Step
Step 1: Find the Asset Category
- Use the search option to locate the category you want to edit.
Step 2: Start Editing
- Click on View/Edit next to the Asset Category you want to modify.
Step 3: Update Information
On the Edit Asset Category page, you will see the current details. Update the following fields if required:
- Category
- Description
- Status
Step 4: Save Changes
- Click Submit to update the changes.
- Click Cancel if you don’t want to apply the updates.

- Used to classify assets (e.g., Vehicles, Furniture, Machinery).
- Defines depreciation rules, useful life, and GL accounts for each category.
- Mandatory when creating a new asset.
- Categories can be added, searched, and edited as per requirements.
- Report of all asset categories can be exported or printed.
