Master Category

MASTER CATEGORY

The Master Category screen (menu path: IT > Masters > Master Category) manages the dropdown (picklist) values used across DMeX. Each Master Category (for example CURRENCY or ACTIVE_STATUS) holds a list of Master Data entries (Code + Description) that appear as options in dropdowns on other screens.

note

To go back to the Master Category Search screen, click Master Category next to Welcome at the top-right corner of the page.

1.1 Add a Master Category

Add a Master Category - Step-by-Step

note

The Master Category Search screen has no "Add" button, so new categories cannot be created from the Master Category screen. Users can only open an existing Master Category and edit it, including adding new Master Data (dropdown values) under that category.

1.2 Search Master Category

  • For All: Leave all fields empty and click "Search" to see all categories.
  • Clear: Resets the search fields and hides the results.

Step 2: See the Master Category Search Results:

  • When categories are found, the message "<count> Master Category(s) Retrieved." is shown. When nothing matches, the message "No Master Category(s) Retrieved for your Input" is shown.
  • The results table shows these columns: S.No, View/Edit, Category, Description and User Access.
  • User Access column: shows User Generate when users are allowed to add Master Data to the category (access CR or CRU), and System Generate when the category is system maintained (access R, read-only for users).
  • Search: A filter box above the results table filters the rows already shown.
  • Export as Excel: Downloads the search results as an Excel file. The button is shown only to users who have the Export Excel permission.

1.3.1 Master Data Sub-Tab (Edit Master Category)

When an existing Master Category is opened, the MasterData sub-tab is shown below the Edit Master Category form. The sub-tab contains the Create/Edit Master Data form and the List of MasterData table, which lists every dropdown value already stored under the category.

note

Prior to submitting Master Data, ensure that all mandatory (*) fields have been filled.

Master Data fields (MasterData sub-tab of Master Category):

Submit is shown only when the category's User Access is User Generate (CR or CRU) and the user has create access to Master Category. For a System Generate category, users with create access see the message "*This category only access for IT team." instead of the Submit button.
  • Clear: Clears the Master Data form and returns it to Create mode.

List of MasterData table (MasterData sub-tab of Master Category):

  • Columns: S.No, View/Edit, Category, Code, Description, Effective Date, Expiry Date, Notes, Display Sequence.
